We had planned to spend five days in the Argentine-Chilean Lake District before travelling on to Santiago, Chile for a week. The Cabuco volcano didn't cooperate (and has since erupted for the third time) and so we spent five days in Mendoza, Argentina. Our last-minute booking there turned out to be a pleasant choice. We stayed at the Modigliani Suites and Art Gallery - there are eleven apartments and an Art Gallery. We were located in the central part of the city, walking distance to many sights.
Our refrigerator was stocked with all the breakfast items - eggs, milk, juice, etc., so making breakfast was easy. As I was starting to wash the dishes after our first breakfast, Javiar (one of the group of very helpful guys who run the place, along with Oscar, Marcel and Martin) told me to leave them for the maid, Barbara, to do up. Which she did every morning, along with washing and
ironing a big batch of laundry for us, for a charge of about $10 US!
